The Serbian Chamber of Engineers organized a technical lecture by designers from the CIPTeam who shared their experiences in the reconstruction of two representative, historically significant and protected station buildings on the Belgrade – Subotica railway line. The following topics were covered:

  1. The Novi Sad station building recognized as an architectural masterpiece of Yugoslav and global modern architecture, and
  2. The Žednik station building – an exceptional example of Hungarian Secession designed by young architects, with elements of traditional Szekely Hungarian architecture

The first part of the lecture, presented by architects Branka Lazović and Dr Uroš Vesić, focused on the complexity of the Terms of Reference for the reconstruction of the Novi Sad station building, which was presented through six major topics: from specific technological requirements, spaces intended for passengers and the reconstruction of stone cladding in the interior and exterior, to the energy rehabilitation of the building, landscaping, and designing a new platform canopy.

In the second part of the lecture, architect Ivana Arsenijević, with an abundance of original photographs and documents, detailed the Žednik station building reconstruction project, with special attention to the very interesting history of the building and its architects, the characteristic elements of the architecture and interior, as well as a beautiful presentation of the successfully reconstructed building.

Colleagues from all regional centres of the Serbian Chamber of Engineers showed great interest in the lecture.
