Experts from the Institute of Transportation CIP, together with colleagues from the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, participated in a workshop organized by UIC (International Union of Railways) and SEESARI (South East Europe Strategic Alliance for Rail Innovation), held in Paris on 12 December 2024.
The topic of the international workshop was the analysis of railway development potentials in Southeast Europe. Our team had a notable presentation titled “Railway Development Potentials in South East Europe: Planning, Transport, Strategy”, which factually substantiated the importance of developing the Pan European Railway Corridor X (Salzburg – Ljubljana – Zagreb – Belgrade – Niš – Skopje – Veles – Thessaloniki) and the activities undertaken by the Republic of Serbia regarding the construction and modernization of the railway system at this point in time.
At the workshop, our team also proposed the adoption of the Balkans Mobility Manifesto, as a basic platform for the development of sustainable and resilient mobility, and outlined four key pillars on which this document should be based.
