THE INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORTATION CIP concluded a contract with the INSTITUTE OF TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT LJUBLJANA for the preparation of a research & development design aimed at exploring and defining measures to improve the operation of the Zalog marshalling yard and railway connections within the cargo system of the Ljubljana railway junction.

In the coming period, the CIPTeam will work on tasks related to improving an important segment of the TEN-T network, with the imperative to enhance the coherent, efficient, multimodal, and high-quality transport infrastructure in the EU.

The Ljubljana junction is the most important railway junction in Slovenia and a crucial segment of the TEN-T network structure (Trans-European Transport Network). It includes the main railway stations: Ljubljana, Šiška, Zalog, Moste station, and the railway connections between them. Today, most railway freight traffic passes within this zone, meaning that about 150 freight trains runs within the TEN-T network, which accounts for about 35% of the total number of trains per day.
