The “Miloš the Great” highway section from New Belgrade to Surčin was put into regular operation.
This section is of exceptional importance for all citizens of the city of Belgrade because it will be the fastest connection to the “Miloš the Great” highway that will enable users to enter directly the “Miloš the Great” highway from Vojvodjanska Street and Dr Ivana Ribara Street in New Belgrade instead of the previous entering from the Belgrade – Zagreb highway section.
Upon completion of this section, a driving distance will be shortened by about 10 km, and it will have a direct impact on the reduction of travel time, alleviation of traffic congestion on existing infrastructure, energy consumption, energy efficiency of the traffic-transport system, etc.
The New Belgrade – Surčin section, about 7.9 km long, was designed for speed of 80 km/h. It has two carriageways (with three traffic lanes each), green central reserve, greenery on both sides, footways on both sides, and one cycle track. Regarding structures, four bridges and two overpasses were built along the route.
Saobraćajni institut CIP prepared complete technical documentation (Conceptual Design, Preliminary Design, Building Permit Design, Detailed Design) for this section. Upon completion of this section, construction of the “Miloš the Great” highway – one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Republic of Serbia is coming to an end.
