The subject of the technical documentation that will be prepared by Saobraćajni institut CIP d.o.o. is the Preliminary Design and the Detailed Design for the rehabilitation of the “Kneževac” tunnel.

The “Kneževac” tunnel was built in the 1960s and connects Makiško polje with Rakovica. The tunnel passes under Belе Vode, Cerak and Vidikovac. The entrance portal of the tunnel is on the Makiš side, while the exit portal is in Rakovica.

The length of the left tunnel tube is 2,725.40 m, while the length of the right tunnel tube is 2,730.92 m. The right tunnel tube starts at km 2+537.08 and ends at km 5+268.00 of the railway line Belgrade Marshaling Yard “B” – Branching-off point “A”- (Resnik), while the left tunnel tube starts at km 2+542.60 and ends at km 5+268.00 of the railway line Belgrade Marshaling Yard “A”- Branching-off point “T”- Rakovica.

In order to connect the double-track Topčider – Resnik railway line with the Rakovica station, a bifurcation was made in the length of about 85 m in the left tube of the “Kneževac” tunnel, i.e. from km 4+893 to km 4+978.

The freight trains operate through the “Kneževac” tunnels.
